Self-Driving Trolleys in Downtown Bryan Hit the Streets

Self Driving Trolley WrapsSelf-driving trolleys were unveiled in historic Downtown Bryan on Wednesday, October 31, 2018.

There was be a celebratory “first ride” with Bryan Mayor Andrew Nelson, Texas A&M University System Chancellor John Sharp, Texas A&M University College of Engineering Dean Dr. M. Katherine Banks, Texas A&M University Department of Mechanical Engineering and Lead Researcher Dr. Srikanth Saripalli, and other dignitaries and partners.

What is the goal of this project?

Research focuses on mapping, localization, guidance, navigation and control for developing autonomous ground and aerial vehicles. A specific goal is to field deployment of autonomous vehicles in applicable environments, offering a sustainable mode of public transportation and another opportunity for mobility.

Who are the partners in this project?

This is a multi-faceted program that includes the efforts of the City of Bryan, Texas A&M College of Engineering, Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES), Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI), and Governor’s University Research Initiative (GURI).
